The facility, which will be purchasing its building rather than leasing, is expected to create 20 new positions over the next five years, with 11 of those qualifying for a grant aimed at supporting local employment. Board members expressed optimism about the potential revenue impact on Denton Municipal Electric (DME), although it was noted that the project did not meet the guidelines for growth rider incentives due to its lower impact classification.

The company plans to start with one production line, focusing on gypsum, and has ambitious expansion plans that include adding additional product lines in the coming years. This phased approach is designed to maximize the facility's capacity within its existing 16,000 square feet.

Concerns regarding environmental compliance were addressed, with assurances that the production process will not involve asbestos and will prioritize cleanliness, as demonstrated in their facilities in Mexico. The board emphasized the importance of adhering to regulations set by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to avoid project delays.

As the project progresses, it is anticipated to not only bolster local employment but also strengthen Denton's position in the construction supply chain, given the company's existing contracts with major suppliers like D.R. Horton. The board's discussions reflect a proactive approach to fostering economic development while ensuring environmental responsibility.
