The representative noted that neighborhoods frequently organize food drives, collecting thousands of pounds of food, while school children contribute hundreds of boxes of cereal through their own initiatives. Georgetown's football players have also made a notable impact by donating enough peanut butter to sustain the organization for months.

The summer season has further enhanced food availability, with community gardens yielding fresh vegetables that are shared among residents. The representative emphasized the willingness of neighbors to help, often reaching out to donate surplus food. However, there remains a challenge in connecting those who want to assist with effective ways to contribute.

Helping Hands operates four days a week, distributing food outside the local library for approximately six hours weekly.
