America's High School and Eastlake High School softball teams honored for UIL championships

The Socorro Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees held a special meeting on June 23, 2025, at 5:30 PM, primarily focused on recognizing outstanding achievements in local high school sports. The meeting commenced with a series of accolades for championship softball and baseball teams from the district.

The first recognition honored the America’s High School softball team for winning the 2024-2025 UIL 5A District Championship. The team concluded their season with an impressive overall record of 22 wins and 17 losses, alongside a district record of 9 wins and 3 losses. Individual players received notable accolades, including the District Pitcher of the Year and the District Offensive Player of the Year. The team, led by Head Coach Roxanne Luna, included players Giselle Alcala, Abeni Cuevas, Sury Flores, and others.

Following this, the Eastlake High School softball team was recognized for their achievement in winning the 2024-2025 UIL 6A By-District Championship. They finished their season with a record of 25 wins and 14 losses, and a district record of 6 wins and 6 losses. The team also celebrated academic success, with 98 players receiving all-academic district honors. Head Coach Era Corbett led the team, which included players Isabela Aguilera, Delilah Cleto, and several others.

The meeting continued with recognitions for baseball teams. The Eldorado High School baseball team was celebrated for winning the 2024-2025 UIL 5A By-District Championship, finishing their season with a district record of 7 wins and 5 losses. Noteworthy individual achievements included three players receiving first-team all-district honors. The team was coached by Victor Rodriguez and included players such as Nathan Aguilar and John Alamo.

Lastly, the America’s High School baseball team was recognized for their remarkable achievements, including winning the UIL 2 5A District and Area Championships for the fourth, fifth, and third times, respectively. They reached the Sweet 16 and finished the season ranked 10th in the 5A Division 1. The team, led by Head Coach Jesse Munoz, included players Isaac Arrieta and Jacob Estrada.

The meeting concluded with a transition into a closed session to address a Level 3 grievance hearing response appeal related to an employee complaint. The session began at 6:12 PM, marking the end of the public recognitions and discussions.
