Davis High School's percussion ensemble has struck gold, clinching the first-place title at the WIAA WMEA state solo and ensemble contest held in Ellensburg this past April. This prestigious event showcased the top high school music talents from across Washington, with winners from 22 regional contests advancing to compete at the state level.

During the Yakima School District Board Meeting on June 17, 2025, students from the award-winning ensemble were recognized for their achievement. Jason McCaslin, a member of the ensemble, shared insights about their journey, highlighting that the entire rehearsal process was student-led, showcasing their leadership and commitment. "It was a great experience," McCaslin said, reflecting on the fun they had during their travels and the pride of winning for the first time since 2019.
