Joliet Council approves key settlements for Northpointe development project

The City of Joliet held a Special Council Meeting on June 20, 2025, to address key ordinances related to local development projects. The meeting commenced with a motion to read the agenda items, focusing primarily on two significant ordinances.

The first item discussed was Council Memo Number 374-25, which involved an ordinance authorizing the execution of a settlement and mutual releases agreement. This agreement pertains to the Northpointe development project in Joliet and includes multiple stakeholders such as Hobalt Road Extension, JV LLC, Centerpoint Properties Trust, and others. The council unanimously voted in favor of adopting this ordinance, with all members, including Mayor Darcy, casting an "aye" vote, resulting in the motion being carried.

Following this, the council moved on to Council Memo Number 375-25. This ordinance authorized the execution of a first amendment to the memorandum of understanding for the Hobart Road project. This amendment involves collaboration between the Illinois Department of Transportation, Will County, the City of Joliet, and the Hobart Road Extension, JV LLC. Similar to the previous ordinance, this motion also received unanimous approval from the council members.

The meeting concluded with a call for public comments; however, no members of the public chose to address the council. Overall, the meeting successfully advanced important agreements that support ongoing development initiatives in Joliet, reflecting the council's commitment to local infrastructure and economic growth.
