The Denton community is set to benefit from the upcoming Westgate Drive Reconstruction Project, which aims to enhance local infrastructure and improve accessibility. Project Manager Dante Hale provided an update on the initiative during a recent presentation, outlining key details that will impact residents.

The project will extend Westgate Drive from the I-35 access road to the intersection of Bronco Way and Westgate Drive, as well as connect to the existing North-South portion of Westgate Drive. This significant undertaking includes the installation of concrete roadways, pedestrian improvements such as sidewalks and curb ramps, driveways, wet utilities, and street lighting.

Construction is anticipated to begin in mid to late July 2025, with a projected completion date of March 2026. As of January 2025, all necessary right-of-way acquisitions have been completed, and the full plan set from the design engineer was received in March 2025. Hale assured residents that there would be minimal disruptions to travelers, as most of the work will occur outside of the current roadway.
