He expressed frustration over the current parking permit system, which he believes is insufficient for the needs of the community. “We simply don’t have enough spots for everyone,” he stated, urging a reevaluation of the parking policy to better accommodate residents.

Executive Director Kimberly responded, clarifying that the property, built in 1961, has faced challenges in meeting modern ADA requirements. She noted that while the parking policy aims to be fair, the reality is that not every resident can be guaranteed a parking space. “It takes out about 2 to 3 spots for each ADA spot we create, so we’ll lose more,” she explained.

The discussion also touched on the potential for regulatory relief in light of the unique challenges posed by the historic structure. Commissioners expressed a desire for a community-facing parking plan to address the ongoing issues, with a commitment to explore solutions that could better serve residents.
