Rockwall ISD's Board of Trustees made significant strides in enhancing educational resources during their meeting on June 16, 2025, approving multiple key initiatives aimed at improving student services and technology access.

The board unanimously approved a substantial purchase of 59 Apple 24-inch iMacs for the Doctor Gene Burton College and Career Academy, totaling $128,207. This acquisition, funded through the 2021 bond authorization, is part of a broader strategy to modernize technology in classrooms, ensuring students have access to essential learning tools.

In addition to technology upgrades, the board also endorsed a Texas Education Agency waiver that allows for a modified schedule during state assessment testing days. This waiver is designed to minimize disruptions for students not participating in testing, enabling them to attend school after testing concludes without affecting average daily attendance metrics.

Another important decision was the approval of a waiver for a local data portal, which will grant teachers access to student assessment data through a more user-friendly system. This move aims to enhance teachers' ability to track student performance and tailor instruction accordingly.

Lastly, the board approved an optional flexible school day program, allowing alternative education campuses to take attendance at flexible hours. This initiative is particularly beneficial for students facing family or work-related challenges, ensuring they can still participate in educational programs without penalty.
