Scott County honors Patty Burnside upon her retirement after 31 years at library

Patty Burnside, a beloved figure in the Scott County Public Library, was honored during the Scott County Fiscal Court meeting on June 13, 2025, as she prepares to retire after an impressive 31-year career. Burnside began her journey at the library in 1994 as a part-time clerk and quickly rose through the ranks, ultimately serving as the library's director. Her dedication to enriching the lives of Scott County residents was highlighted, with her involvement in numerous roles, including educational service coordinator and assistant director.

In her farewell speech, Burnside expressed gratitude for the support she received throughout her career and introduced her successor, Elizabeth Kozlowski, who comes from White House, Tennessee, bringing 12 years of experience as a library director. The court approved a resolution to provide local matching funds for the Kentucky Product Development Initiative grant, aimed at enhancing the Lanes Run Business Park. This initiative is expected to create jobs and attract business investment in the area, with a total local match of $247,980.

The court also discussed the withdrawal of funds from the Lanes Run Business Park Expansion Fund to cover a sewer privilege fee, further supporting the park's development. Lastly, a moratorium on RV campground applications was extended for two months, allowing the planning commission more time to finalize necessary regulations.
