A heartfelt farewell marked the Lawrence Alliance for Education Board Meeting on June 11, 2025, as the district honored 16 retiring employees for their dedicated service to Lawrence Public Schools. The ceremony celebrated the contributions of long-standing staff members, with notable retirements including Mark Aginziano, an ESL teacher with 35 years of service, and Eileen Castle, a senior accounts payable specialist, also retiring after 35 years.

The evening was filled with gratitude as each retiree was called to the stage to receive a certificate of appreciation. Among those recognized were Valerie Cahill, a pre-K teacher with a decade of service, and Lynn Ellen Garcia, the LPS director of teacher diversification, who leaves after 38 years.
