The Pitt County Schools held a graduation ceremony for Ayden-Grifton High School on June 7, 2025, celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2025. The event highlighted the collective journey of the graduates, emphasizing unity and perseverance throughout their high school years.
Salutatorian Caitlin Wood delivered an inspiring speech, focusing on the shared experiences of her classmates. Caitlin Wood was recognized not only for her academic excellence but also for her leadership and community involvement. She maintained a high GPA while earning two associate degrees from Pitt Community College and contributing over 1,300 volunteer hours, including significant medical service. Wood made history as the first female tennis player from Ayden-Grifton High School to reach the 2A Women's Tennis State Championship and served as concert master of the orchestra.
The ceremony also acknowledged the support of Wood's parents, Gary and Patty Wood, who were recognized for their role in her success. As the valedictorian, Caitlin Wood concluded her address by reflecting on the journey that began 1,384 days prior, marking a significant milestone for her and her classmates.
