Mona Malebranche, a proud Haitian American and long-time Tamarac resident, has dedicated her life to compassionate service. After immigrating to the United States in 1961, she built a distinguished career as a registered nurse, caring for countless patients while also raising a family. Her journey took a challenging turn at age 47 when she lost her vision, but she transformed this adversity into an opportunity to inspire others. She became actively involved with the Division for the Blind, continuing her commitment to community service.

In addition to her nursing career, Malebranche has held leadership roles in her community, including president of her homeowners association and the Kings Point Democratic Club. She has been a strong advocate for voter participation, disability rights, and community engagement, earning recognition as Volunteer of the Year from the Democratic Executive Committee.
