Following this recognition, the council moved to proclaim June as Caribbean Heritage Month. Commissioner Bolton presented the proclamation to Eunice Segura of Lavinia Restaurant, celebrating the contributions of Caribbean Americans to the nation. The proclamation acknowledged the significant roles Caribbean Americans have played in various fields, including government, sports, and the arts, citing notable figures such as Alexander Hamilton and Colin Powell.
