Lehi Springs has made significant strides in sustainability and community engagement, as highlighted during the recent Sedona City Council meeting on June 11, 2025. The neighborhood successfully completed two major projects, hosted two special events, and conducted three informational workshops, all aimed at fostering a more sustainable community.

The standout initiative was the automated water meter installation program, which received a boost from a $5,000 grant awarded to Lehi Springs. This project is expected to enhance water management and conservation efforts in the area. Additionally, the neighborhood launched a solar installation project, resulting in eight out of 18 workshop attendees opting to install solar panels on their homes, showcasing a tangible shift towards renewable energy.

Community events also played a vital role in strengthening local ties. A Thanksgiving potluck and a Fourth of July gathering attracted 94 residents, promoting connection and camaraderie. Furthermore, the neighborhood organized two collection events, including a Thanksgiving food drive that gathered over 220 pounds of food, equating to approximately 183 meals donated to the local food bank. They also collected 94 tools for a tool lending library, further supporting community resources.

The workshops offered valuable educational opportunities, covering topics such as solar energy, native and invasive plant species, and fire safety. These sessions not only informed residents but also encouraged proactive measures in environmental stewardship and safety.

Lehi Springs engaged a total of 145 neighbors throughout the year, far exceeding the required minimum of 100 credits to be recognized as an outstanding sustainable neighborhood. Their efforts have set a strong foundation for future initiatives, with plans already underway for the next year.

The council expressed enthusiasm for the neighborhood's accomplishments and discussed the potential for expanding similar programs to other areas in Sedona. With additional funding opportunities available, including grants from Friends of the Verde River, the momentum for sustainability in Sedona is poised to grow.

As Lehi Springs looks ahead, the community's commitment to sustainability and collaboration promises to inspire other neighborhoods to follow suit, fostering a more environmentally conscious and connected Sedona.
