Shenendehowa High School celebrates athletic achievements and state championship qualifications

The Shenendehowa Board of Education held a meeting on June 10, 2025, where the focus was on celebrating the achievements of student-athletes during the spring sports season. The meeting began with acknowledgments of coaches who were unable to attend due to personal commitments, including flooding issues and mandatory meetings related to state championships.

The athletic director reported that over 700 athletes participated in the spring season, with 19 teams across eight sports. Notably, seven of the eight varsity teams met the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NISPA) requirements for scholar athlete recognition, with 143 individual athletes achieving GPAs of 90 or higher.

Highlights from the girls' track and field team included their status as Section 2 runners-up and several athletes qualifying for state and national championships. The boys' track team also had standout performances, with multiple state qualifiers and national relay teams.

The softball team was recognized for their impressive 19-2 record, having recently won the regional championship and advancing to the New York final four state championship. Individual accolades were given to players for their all-star selections, showcasing the team's growth and teamwork throughout the season.

Other sports discussed included baseball, which had a record of 11-9 and engaged in community service through a food drive, and flag football, which had a successful inaugural season. Both girls' and boys' lacrosse teams also had winning records, with several players receiving all-star honors.

The meeting concluded with a celebration of the unified basketball and cheer teams, which had successful seasons and participated in championship events. The boys' tennis team also enjoyed a winning season, benefiting from newly renovated facilities.
