Franklin Special School District (FSD) celebrated significant achievements and outlined upcoming initiatives during its June 11, 2025, school board meeting. Notably, the district reported no student grade retention for the year, a milestone attributed to the hard work of teachers and administrators. This achievement reflects a commitment to student success and effective educational strategies.

In addition to retention rates, FSD highlighted impressive results from the English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA), where students demonstrated record proficiency levels, doubling the success rate compared to the previous four years. This remarkable progress underscores the district's focus on supporting English language learners.

The meeting also recognized Susanna Gentry and Dr. Mary Decker for receiving the prestigious Jim Ginsburg Golden Achievement Award from the National School Public Relations Association. Their work on a strategic branding campaign was commended for its excellence in communication practices.

Looking ahead, the district is preparing for a busy summer, with various training sessions for administrators scheduled from June 11 to June 13. These sessions will include leadership retreats and required training on maintaining a drug-free workplace. FSD is also collaborating with local organizations, such as the Franklin Williamson County Boys and Girls Club, to provide meals for children and teens throughout the summer. The summer meals program, which began on May 27, offers free breakfast and lunch to students, ensuring that nutritional needs are met during the school break.

As the district prepares for the upcoming school year, key dates were shared, including the opening day celebration on August 1 and the fall district meeting on September 4. These events will set the stage for continued growth and success within the Franklin Special School District.
