Under the bright lights of Minnechaug Regional High School, a sense of pride and accomplishment filled the air as graduates gathered to celebrate their achievements during the graduation ceremony held on June 6, 2025. The evening was marked by heartfelt recognition of the hard work and dedication of the students, with special honors bestowed upon the top achievers.
Marissa Bontepe, the class valedictorian, stood proudly as she was acknowledged for her remarkable cumulative grade point average of 4.87. She is set to continue her academic journey at Clemson University. Close behind her, salutatorian Antonia Mascaro, with a GPA of 4.81, will be heading to the University of Connecticut. Their achievements were met with applause, a testament to their commitment and excellence throughout their high school years.
The ceremony also highlighted the accomplishments of students who participated in the College Board's AP Capstone program. Three graduates—Hannah Alves, Ethan Purcell, and Dominic Iacovone—were recognized for earning the prestigious AP Capstone diploma, a significant milestone that showcases their ability to conduct collegiate-level research.
In addition to academic honors, the school celebrated the linguistic talents of its students. Seven graduates received the Massachusetts Seal of Biliteracy, recognizing their proficiency in Spanish. Among them were Marissa Bontepe and Victoria Gonzalez, who will further their education at Bowdoin College, and Jeremiah Martin, who will attend Western New England University.
The evening also paid tribute to the graduates who have chosen to serve in the military. Eight seniors were honored for their commitment to defend their country, including Joseph Brower and Jake Burnett, who will join the Air Force, and Matthew Noonan, who will serve in the Army. Their dedication to service was met with gratitude and respect from the audience, emphasizing the importance of their contributions to the nation.
As the ceremony progressed, class president Ian Wall took the stage, ready to share his reflections on the journey that brought the class of 2025 to this momentous occasion.
