The Othello School District celebrated a momentous occasion on June 7, 2025, as it honored the graduating class of 2025 during a heartfelt ceremony. The event highlighted not only academic achievements but also the commitment of students who have chosen to serve in the military.

A special tradition was upheld as the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars presented red, white, and blue cords to students enlisting in the military. Graduates Kimberly Soriano, Ingrid Soriano Lopez, Abel Cruz, Ernesto Duran, Francisco Antonio Martinez, Andreas Pastor, Alma Sainz, and Jacqueline Gonzales Cruz were recognized for their dedication to serving the country.

In addition to military honors, the ceremony acknowledged academic excellence. Students were awarded honor cords based on their GPAs, with bronze, silver, and gold cords presented to those achieving between 3.5 to 4.0. The top ten students were also recognized, showcasing the district's commitment to academic achievement.

Superintendent Dr. Pete Perez and Assistant Superintendent Jessica Schenck played pivotal roles in certifying the graduating class. This ceremony marked a significant transition for Schenck, who is moving on to become the superintendent of the Mount Baker School District. Her contributions to the Othello School District, particularly as the principal during the graduates' middle school years, were celebrated.

The ceremony also paid tribute to students who have shown remarkable resilience. Rafael Gomez, unable to attend due to personal challenges, was honored posthumously, with his sister receiving his diploma on stage, symbolizing the strength and support of the Othello community.

As the class of 2025 prepares to embark on their next chapter, the Othello School District stands proud of their achievements and the bright futures that lie ahead.
