The Jurupa Valley City Council meeting on June 5, 2025, highlighted two significant community initiatives: the introduction of the Riverside County Department of Animal Services' pet of the month and a proclamation for the upcoming Jurupa Valley Pro Rodeo.
The meeting began with a presentation about Harmony, a five-year-old German Shepherd mix available for adoption. Alicia, a senior animal services counselor, described Harmony as a hyper and playful dog who has been at the shelter for over 110 days. She emphasized Harmony's friendly nature, noting that she would thrive in a home with children or other dogs. The shelter is hosting a special adoption event on June 7, where all adoption fees will be waived, encouraging community members to consider adopting pets like Harmony.
Following the pet presentation, the council recognized the Jurupa Valley Pro Rodeo, scheduled for this weekend at the Rick Thompson Arena. Paige Cleveland provided details about the event, which will feature traditional rodeo activities and performances by the Escoda Musa team. The rodeo gates will open at 5:30 PM, with the main events starting at 7 PM.
The meeting underscored the city's commitment to animal welfare and community engagement through local events, inviting residents to participate in both the adoption event and the rodeo.
