Richardson ISD celebrated significant staff and student achievements during its recent meeting on June 5, 2025, highlighting the district's commitment to excellence in education and community engagement.
The spotlight shone brightly on Sandra Verduzco, the newly appointed Executive Director of Communications and Marketing. With over 25 years of experience in marketing and public relations, Verduzco is expected to enhance the district's communication strategies. "We are very excited that she is now part of our ISD family," said a district representative, emphasizing her immediate impact since joining the team nearly a month ago.
The meeting also recognized two staff members, Mike Coso and Creighton Bridal, for their graduation from the Leadership Richardson program, which equips community leaders with essential skills. Both have completed the program's rigorous requirements, joining a network of over 1,200 graduates who contribute to various sectors within the community.
Additionally, the Principal Residency Program was highlighted, showcasing a cohort of aspiring educational leaders who are gaining hands-on experience while pursuing their master's degrees. This initiative aims to cultivate future leaders within Richardson ISD, ensuring a strong educational foundation for the district.
In a display of pride, the meeting acknowledged the achievements of transportation staff Gwen Wongong and Monica Jackson, who earned bronze medals at the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation State Bus Road-E-O championships. Their dedication to safe student transportation was celebrated, reinforcing the district's commitment to student safety.
The student recognition segment featured the "Mighty Pringles" team from Merriman Park Elementary, who excelled in the Destination Imagination program, achieving impressive placements at regional and state competitions, and representing Richardson ISD at the global finals.
Finally, Berkner High School's August Roberts was honored as an outstanding student-athlete, recognized for her academic and athletic achievements. Roberts, who recently graduated, is pursuing a career in cosmetology, showcasing the district's support for students' diverse aspirations.
The meeting concluded with a call for public comments, inviting community members to engage with the board on various topics, further emphasizing Richardson ISD's commitment to transparency and community involvement.
