The Southlake Planning and Zoning Commission has taken a significant step towards enhancing mental health services for youth in the community. During their meeting on June 5, 2025, the commission approved a request to establish a full-day outpatient mental healthcare facility for youth at 600 West South Lake Boulevard, Suite 120. This facility will operate under the existing SP1 zoning regulations, which are designed for detailed site plan districts.
The new facility will accommodate a maximum of 20 patients and employ up to five full-time staff members. Operating hours are set from 8 AM to 5 PM, providing essential services such as individual, group, and family therapy. This initiative follows a previous application in 2024 for a behavioral health private day school, which had a capacity of 36 students and operated from 9 AM to 5 PM.
Peter Jule, representing Keras, the organization behind the facility, clarified that the program will not include overnight stays, food care, or medication dispensing. Instead, it will focus on clinical programs recognized at the federal level, specifically Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). These programs are designed for children dealing with depression and anxiety, ensuring a supportive environment for their mental health needs.
The commission noted that there were no public responses to the proposal, indicating a lack of opposition from the community. This development is expected to provide crucial support for local youth facing mental health challenges, aligning with the city’s commitment to enhancing community health resources. As the facility prepares to open, it represents a proactive approach to addressing mental health issues among young residents in Southlake.
