During a recent San Francisco County government meeting, officials discussed a significant resolution aimed at renewing and expanding the Dogpatch and Northwest Potrero Hill Green Benefit District. This initiative, which involves the city’s ownership of nine parcels of real property, seeks to enhance community services and infrastructure in the area.
The resolution authorizes the mayor or a designated representative to cast affirmative assessment ballots on behalf of the city. This decision follows a previous resolution passed by the Board of Supervisors on May 20, which declared the intention to renew and expand the district and initiated the balloting process. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (MTA) also expressed support for the renewal, with its board approving a resolution to cast ballots in favor of the initiative for additional parcels.
The Department of Elections is set to mail assessment ballots to property owners in the proposed district starting June 6, with the city’s nine parcels contributing a total annual assessment of approximately $5,983.66. This amount represents a small fraction of the overall weighted vote and budget for the Green Benefit District.
The discussions highlighted the importance of community engagement and the potential benefits of the district's renewal, which aims to improve local amenities and services. The resolution will be referred to the Board of Supervisors for further consideration on June 10, 2025, marking a crucial step in the process of enhancing the Dogpatch and Northwest Potrero Hill neighborhoods.
