Michael Burnett, a dedicated employee of Miami-Dade County, was honored for his remarkable 35 years of service during a recent Employee Service Award presentation. The event, held on June 5, 2025, celebrated Burnett's extensive career within the Department of Human Services, where he has made significant contributions to community support and rehabilitation services.
Burnett began his journey with the county in 1991 as a counselor at the Seymour Gilbert Juvenile Residential Treatment Center. His exceptional rapport with clients and strong administrative skills led to his promotion to counselor at the New Direction Residential Adult Treatment Center just a year later. Throughout his career, Burnett has continued to advance his education, earning a master's degree in public administration and a doctoral degree in Theology, which he has applied to improve the lives of individuals facing challenges in mental health and substance use.
In 2001, Burnett took on the role of assistant director at the Perrine One Stop Career, Training, and Employment Center, where he played a key role in achieving Gold Seal Reaccreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. His commitment to helping others has been a hallmark of his career, as he has focused on empowering men to become better fathers and providers.
During the ceremony, Burnett expressed gratitude for the opportunities provided by Miami-Dade County and acknowledged the support of his colleagues. He has been married for 29 years and is a proud father, further highlighting his dedication to family and community.
The recognition of Burnett's service underscores the county's commitment to honoring employees who make a lasting impact on the community. As Miami-Dade County continues to foster a culture of appreciation, Burnett's story serves as an inspiring example of dedication and service in public service.
