Hawaii Fire Department prepares 135th class for emergency response training

The San Francisco Fire Department is set to enhance its training programs for new firefighters, as announced during a recent government meeting. The 135th class of probationary firefighters is nearing graduation on June 6, completing their testing and receiving valuable presentations from various support units, including behavioral health and credit unions.

In a significant development, the department will introduce a new driving and operational training program for these recruits, aimed at preparing them for emergency responses. This initiative, praised by Chief Casper, will focus on essential skills such as driving, tillering, and pump operation. The training will take place on Treasure Island, which will serve as a dedicated training ground for the new firefighters. This program is expected to boost their confidence and reduce the likelihood of accidents during emergency operations.

Additionally, the selection process for the 136th class of firefighters is underway, with interviews completed and final selections expected to be made shortly. This new class is scheduled to begin training on July 28.
