Henry County officials are gearing up for significant infrastructure improvements, with a focus on road resurfacing and a new mixed-use development project. During the Board of Commissioners meeting on May 28, 2025, the county announced plans to allocate $3 million in state funding for road repairs in several subdivisions, including Lehi Wind Forest, Panola Woods, and Cutters Mill. The roads in these areas have been rated poorly, with scores in the thirties and forties out of a hundred, indicating urgent need for repair.

County Manager Romero emphasized the importance of these repairs, stating, "We try to do the worst first and work our way up." The board approved the resurfacing plan, which will also include Spivey Road, following a request from Commissioner Robinson to add it to the list of roads needing attention.

In addition to road repairs, the meeting highlighted a new mixed-use development project on North Ola Road. The project, which has been in the works since 2021, aims to transform 115 acres into a community featuring 234 age-restricted residential units and over 216,000 square feet of commercial space. The development is designed to enhance connectivity and safety in the area, with plans for walking trails and community amenities.

The board approved funding for the design services of the Mount Carmel Road intersection improvement project, which will enhance visibility and safety at a key junction. This project is part of the broader SPLOST initiative, which has already allocated over $26 million for infrastructure improvements since its recent launch.
