Outstanding volunteers were celebrated at the Osceola School District Board Meeting on May 27, 2025, highlighting the significant contributions of individuals who have made a positive impact in their schools and communities. Rob Davis, the OASIS volunteer specialist, led the recognition ceremony, which honored exceptional volunteers across three categories: youth, senior, and adult.
This year, the youth category saw a unique twist with two winners: Dalton Gold from Gatewood High School and Logan Harrell from Saint Cloud High School. Dalton, who dedicated over 150 hours to volunteering, assisted with various tasks at Horizon Middle School, including preparing classrooms and supporting teachers during events. Logan, recognized for his commitment to Narcoossee Elementary, helped with inventory and distribution of student devices while mentoring younger students.
Sylvana Vatel, an outstanding senior volunteer from Alco, was acknowledged for her daily support in adult ESOL classes, where she provided tailored assistance to English language learners. Her efforts have significantly boosted student confidence and participation.
The adult volunteer award went to Bettina Grezkalik from Celebration High School, who has been instrumental in addressing food insecurity among students. Through her work with the Embrace Celebration Volunteer Group, she has facilitated the delivery of fresh produce to students in need, making a substantial difference in their lives.
The meeting concluded with a reminder that the names of all nominees will be posted on the OASIS website, celebrating the spirit of volunteerism that enriches the Osceola School District.
