Planning Commission approves multiple site plans for worship, residential, and commercial projects

The Rutherford County Planning Commission convened on May 27, 2025, to discuss several significant developments that promise to impact the local community. Among the key topics was the approval of two new pavilions for religious worship by Veil RM along Old Ashwa Highway. The proposal, which did not require additional parking, was deemed straightforward by the commission, leading to a unanimous vote in favor.

Another notable project discussed was the Good Shepherd Children's Home, which received approval for a new building that will house administrative offices and 44 beds. This facility, located on Plainview Road, aims to support the needs of children in the community. The meeting also included a reapproval for a substantial construction project by Miller Lane LLC, which involves a 39,442 square-foot facility for office space, a guard shack, and truck parking. Originally approved in September 2022, the project had expired due to delays but was reintroduced with minor adjustments. The commission expressed confidence in the updated site plan, which includes larger ponds to meet current standards.

Additionally, a new construction project on Shores Road was approved, which will feature a 1,520 square-foot building for material and equipment storage. This site will include paved driveways and parking areas, with necessary screening to protect adjacent residential properties.

Lastly, the commission reviewed a proposal for a gas station and convenience market at the intersection of Veil Road and Capital Way. While the plan includes provisions for parking large vehicles, it was clarified that this facility would not function as a truck stop, as it lacks amenities typically associated with such establishments.
