Miss Puerto Rico of Greater Hartford, Isabelle Mandy Young Guzman, made a special appearance at the May 28 LRRC Committee Meeting, capturing the attention of state legislators and attendees alike. Guzman, who expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to meet with Senator Kissel and other officials, was warmly welcomed as a constituent of Connecticut.
Senator Kissel acknowledged Guzman’s presence, highlighting the importance of her role in advocating for issues that matter to her community. “I hope you have a nice look around,” he said, encouraging her to return to the Capitol to continue her advocacy efforts.
The meeting also addressed significant regulatory matters, including a motion to approve a licensing regulation from the Department of Consumer Protection and a rejection of gas pipeline safety standards proposed by the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority. Both discussions underscored the committee's commitment to ensuring public safety and effective governance.
As the meeting concluded, the atmosphere was one of optimism, with legislators wishing each other a happy start to summer, signaling a productive session ahead.
