The Perryton High School Band held a celebratory meeting on May 26, 2025, to recognize the achievements of its members and reflect on a successful marching season. The event began with the presentation of awards to outstanding brass players, including Abraham Pintellos, Rylan Flores, Edgar Behan, Adolfo Hernandez, and Aiko Lelis, who was unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict.
Following the awards, the band performed a piece inspired by the upcoming movie "How to Train Your Dragon," delighting the audience with their musical talent. The director acknowledged the contributions of key individuals who played significant roles during the marching season, particularly the two drum majors, David Murillo and Sergio Benda, for their leadership and support.
The meeting also highlighted solo performances from various musicians, including Jaylen Allehans on flute, Samuel Salcedo on clarinet, Omar on horn, and Marisol Garcia, who showcased her skills in both dance and clarinet solos.
Two prestigious awards were presented: the Knighton Bandsman Award, which was awarded to David Murillo, and the Director's Choice Award, given to Peyton McClain for his long-standing dedication to the band. The director mentioned the possibility of the Knighton award evolving into a scholarship in the future.
As the meeting progressed, the band prepared to perform their final UIL number, "Choose Joy," before transitioning to the school song and fight song. The event concluded with a presentation from the band boosters, led by newly elected president Manny Kitchens and treasurer Gerardo Rosales, who expressed gratitude to the directors for their guidance and support throughout the year.
Overall, the meeting served as a platform to celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of the Perryton High School Band, fostering a sense of community and pride among its members and supporters.
