Sixth grade choir celebrates achievements and awards at spring contest

The Perryton Junior High Choir meeting held on May 9, 2025, showcased the achievements and growth of its members, highlighting their recent successes in competitions and recognizing outstanding individuals within the program.

The meeting began with a celebration of the choir's participation in the Outreach choir, marking a significant accomplishment for the group. The choir also achieved a superior rating in both sight reading and singing contests held in March, with over 40 sixth-grade members competing across two classes. This level of participation was noted as a remarkable achievement for the students.

Recognition of individual members followed, with several awards presented. Ava Turner was acknowledged for her progress in music theory and her inquisitive nature, demonstrating significant improvement since joining the choir. The newly established Spirit of Choir Award was given to Yareli Garcia for her positivity and contagious enthusiasm, which has greatly impacted her peers.

Section leaders were also recognized for their contributions. Pedro Medron and Alexia Duspi were commended for their support and leadership within the choir. Olivia Dunstoy was named the outstanding choir member for her contributions to the sixth-grade B choir, while Aspen Martinez was recognized for her lovely personality and support within the group.

Joshua Gonzalez was highlighted for his remarkable development and vocal talent, while Hannah Maribel was acknowledged for her readiness to assist whenever needed. The meeting also introduced the choir's contest pieces, including a Hebrew song titled "Ashlosh Ademoreen," with a brief explanation of its meaning to follow.
