During the recent Milford City Council meeting, discussions centered on the exciting development of a new FC Cincinnati mini pitch, set to be installed in Riverside Park by September 2025. This initiative, which aims to enhance recreational opportunities in the community, was revisited after initial discussions earlier in the year.
The proposed location for the mini pitch is Riverside 2, chosen for its visibility and proximity to downtown amenities. Both FC Cincinnati and Moats, the construction company responsible for the project, expressed strong support for this site, highlighting its advantages for community engagement and accessibility.
The council noted that FC Cincinnati will cover all costs associated with the mini pitch's construction. However, they have requested the city’s assistance in providing a temporary gravel pathway for equipment access during the installation phase. This pathway will be removed once the project is completed, leaving behind landscaped grass surrounding the pitch.
Looking ahead, the council plans to discuss a letter of intent regarding the project at their next meeting on June 17. This step will formalize the partnership and outline any additional costs or requirements for landscaping around the mini pitch.
The introduction of the mini pitch is expected to foster greater community involvement in sports and recreation, aligning with the city's goals to enhance public spaces and promote active lifestyles among residents. As the project progresses, it will be crucial for the council to ensure that the community remains informed and engaged in the development process.
