Fresno City Council celebrated a historic achievement on May 22, 2025, proclaiming the day as Justin Garza High School Swim and Dive League Championship Day. This recognition comes after the school's swim and dive teams made history by capturing their first-ever North Yosemite League (NYL) titles, a remarkable feat for a school that is only four years old.

The council meeting featured the entire swim and dive team, who were honored for their outstanding performance throughout the season. Both the boys' and girls' teams showcased exceptional talent, securing a total of 17 individual and relay first-place finishes, including three podium sweeps at the NYL championships.

Among the standout athletes was Lucas Kircher, who became the first swimmer from the Central Unified School District to qualify for the state championships and won the CIF Paralympic 50 freestyle title. Additionally, Amelie Sanchez and Christian Bustos were recognized as the NYL girls and boys swimmers of the year, respectively, highlighting the depth of talent within the program.
