At the recent Burnsville City Council meeting, a heartfelt tribute to military service took center stage, highlighting the community's commitment to veterans and their families. The event celebrated the intrinsic values of military service, emphasizing responsibility, loyalty, and leadership development.

The gathering recognized the sacrifices made by service members and their families, with a special acknowledgment of Burnsville's designation as a Yellow Ribbon City since February 2013. This status reflects the city's ongoing support for veterans and military personnel before, during, and after their deployments.

Mayor of Burnsville and other local leaders were present to honor graduating students entering military service. Each student received a bag filled with tokens of appreciation, including a $50 gift card and a red, white, and blue honor cord to wear at graduation. Additionally, they were awarded challenge coins, symbols of camaraderie and recognition for their dedication.

The event also served as a platform to thank local organizations, including the Burnsville VFW and Dakota County Vet Services, for their integral role in supporting the Yellow Ribbon network. As the ceremony concluded, attendees were invited to join in refreshments, fostering community spirit and connection.
