Support for SB 424 Dominates Senate Finance Committee Meeting

Hines pointed out that REMSA Health, a nonprofit organization, transports over 30,000 patients annually, with a significant portion relying on Medicaid. He urged the committee to back SB 424 to help bridge the financial gap between service costs and Medicaid reimbursements.

Damon Schilling, Director of Government Relations for Intermountain Health, echoed Hines' sentiments, stressing that EMS providers are among the lowest reimbursed in the healthcare sector. He argued that supporting this bill would enhance community access to EMS, improve services and equipment, and ultimately benefit first responders. Other supporters included Trevor Parrish from the Vegas Chamber, who reinforced the fiscal importance of the bill, and Tom Clark from Medex Air 1, who highlighted its potential benefits for rural Nevada. John Oseguera from Medic West Ambulance and Glenn Simpson from Community Ambulance also voiced their full support, underscoring the critical role of EMS in responding to community needs.
