Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has successfully completed its full-scale emergency response exercise, known as AREX, a critical simulation required by the Federal Aviation Administration every three years. This year, around 400 participants, including first responders, law enforcement, airline staff, and 150 volunteers acting as injured passengers, took part in the drill. LAWA officials emphasized that the exercise is vital for enhancing coordination and identifying areas for improvement, ensuring the airport is well-prepared for any emergency situation.

In another significant development, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation has launched Dash Pacoima, an all-electric bus service in the San Fernando Valley. Council member Emmelda Padilla highlighted that this new route along the Van Nuys corridor is a step towards a more connected and sustainable future for the area. Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, instrumental in securing funding for the service, reiterated the community's need for safe and reliable public transportation. Dash Pacoima will operate on weekdays from 6 AM to 7 PM and weekends from 9 AM to 6 PM, with buses arriving every 30 minutes. To celebrate the launch, Angelenos can ride for free until May 31, with regular fares set at 50 cents in cash and 35 cents with a tap card.
