The Bethlehem Area School District (BASD) School Board held its regular meeting on May 19, 2025, where several key topics were discussed, including student achievements and upcoming events at local high schools.
The meeting began with a recognition of student representatives Molly Patrick from Liberty High School and Brady Roche from Freedom High School. Both students were commended for their contributions to the school board, providing valuable insights and monthly reports on school events. As they prepare to graduate, Eliza Moore and Farida Ishmael were introduced as the new alternate student board representatives, set to take over in September.
Brady Roche reported on recent activities at Freedom High School, highlighting a successful prom event themed "House of Cards," which took place at ArtsQuest. He noted that senior finals were scheduled for the upcoming Thursday and Friday, with graduation preparations beginning on June 4. Roche also mentioned the conclusion of AP testing and celebrated the achievements of the school's athletic teams, including a championship win for the girls' softball team.
Molly Patrick followed with updates from Liberty High School, where students recently completed Keystone and AP testing. She shared that seniors would take their finals this week and encouraged them to transfer important materials from school emails before they are deactivated. Patrick highlighted the school's community service dinner, where 37 out of 70 students recognized for over 200 hours of service were from Liberty. She also discussed the "Glimmers of Heart" project aimed at promoting mental health awareness through positive artwork.
Both student representatives emphasized the importance of community involvement and school spirit as they concluded their reports. The meeting underscored the vibrant activities and achievements of students in the district as they approach the end of the academic year, with graduation ceremonies scheduled for June 5 at Stabler Arena.
