During the recent Town of Mansfield Light Commission and Select Board meeting, community engagement took center stage as Lou Amoruso, chairman of the Mansfield Housing Corporation, highlighted the urgent need for new members to join the board. With only two members currently, Amoruso emphasized the importance of expanding the board to facilitate the development of affordable housing in the town. He expressed excitement about acquiring a piece of land for future projects, which aims to provide housing solutions without imposing additional costs on the town.

Amoruso encouraged residents to consider joining the Housing Corporation, noting that the role requires minimal commitment but offers a significant opportunity to impact the community positively. He shared that the organization has successfully completed a housing project in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity and is now looking to initiate more units to support families and individuals struggling with housing affordability.

In addition to the housing discussion, the board addressed a change of officer application for Delaware North Sports Service at the Xfinity Center. The board unanimously approved the application, which involved a change in personnel without altering ownership.

The meeting also included discussions about appointing new members to the Board of Registrars of Voters, indicating ongoing efforts to ensure local governance remains responsive and representative.
