The City of Encinitas is gearing up for its annual celebration of community and cycling with the upcoming proclamation of May as Bike Month. This initiative, which aligns with county and national efforts, aims to encourage residents to embrace biking as a sustainable mode of transportation and a way to enjoy the local scenery along the Coast Highway.
During the recent Mobility & Traffic Safety Commission meeting, officials reflected on the success of the previous year's Cyclovia event, which transformed the 101 into a car-free zone, allowing families and children to explore the area safely. The event has become a cherished tradition, fostering community engagement and creating lasting memories for participants.
In addition to the bike month proclamation, the meeting welcomed Sergeant Christy Trampus from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, who shared traffic statistics from the beginning of the year. Although new to her role, Sergeant Trampus is committed to addressing traffic safety concerns in Encinitas and is prepared to engage with the community on these issues.
The discussions highlighted the city's ongoing efforts to promote safe and enjoyable transportation options for residents, reinforcing the importance of community involvement in shaping local mobility initiatives. As Encinitas prepares for Bike Month, residents can look forward to more opportunities to connect with their community while prioritizing safety and sustainability.
