Fort Collins City Council has officially proclaimed May as National Police Week and Armed Forces Week during their recent meeting on May 7, 2025. These declarations aim to honor the dedication and sacrifices of law enforcement officers and military personnel in the community.
Mayor Jenny Arndt opened the meeting by recognizing National Police Week, which is observed annually in conjunction with National Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15. The mayor emphasized the importance of acknowledging the risks faced by law enforcement officers and the vital role they play in safeguarding the rights and freedoms of Fort Collins residents. She called upon the community to commemorate the service of police officers, particularly those who have lost their lives in the line of duty, including two local officers, Joseph Allen and Charles Brockman.
