Brighton City Council approves Kestrel Subdivision Plan in unanimous vote

The Brighton City Council meeting on May 6, 2025, focused on significant developments regarding the Kestrel Subdivision Plan, a project that has been under consideration since April. The council officially closed the public hearing and moved to discuss the acceptance of public improvements and lands associated with the Kestrel property, which spans approximately 25.83 acres.

Council member Green initiated the motion to move forward with item 6a, which was seconded by another council member. The motion passed unanimously with an 8-0 vote, indicating strong support among council members.

The Kestrel Subdivision is located north of East 120th Avenue and south of East 124th Avenue, bordered by Peoria Street to the east and Prairie View High School to the west. The project is being presented by senior planner Summer McCann, with Mike Cooper from Boulder Creek Builders representing the applicant, Orchard Church.

During the meeting, council members were asked to disclose any conflicts of interest. Council member Snyder recused himself from the discussion due to his involvement with Boulder Creek Builders.
