Norma Cavazos elected board president of Harlandale ISD amid officer nominations

Norma Cavazos has officially taken the helm as the new board president of Harlandale ISD following a recent meeting where she was elected unanimously. The board's reorganization session on May 19, 2025, saw Cavazos sworn in, marking a significant moment for the district as she steps into this leadership role.

During the meeting, board members expressed gratitude to the community for their support, with Mr. Moncha highlighting the collaborative efforts that led to their reelection. "We've done great work together. We plan on doing much more great work," he stated, emphasizing the board's commitment to the district's future.

The election process for board officers was conducted smoothly, adhering to established protocols. Cavazos was nominated alongside Becky Reese and Louie Luna for the presidency, with Cavazos ultimately receiving four votes in favor.
