The plan includes a commitment of $1.2 million towards the design and construction of the Veil to Trails Phase 3, enhancing connectivity for residents to downtown Frederick and nearby amenities.

Judd Ulam, managing director at Standard Communities, detailed the challenges faced in developing the site, which includes floodplain and wetland areas. The design incorporates walking trails and green spaces, aiming to create a community-friendly environment. Ulam emphasized the importance of the project's location, just a short bus ride from downtown and close to essential services like Wegmans.

The presentation also addressed the need for a code modification to allow for increased density, which is crucial for the project's financial viability. Without this adjustment, approximately 50 affordable units could be lost, undermining the project's goal of providing accessible housing.
