Students and parents highlighted the pressing issue of inadequate transportation for athletes at WAMS, which they argue limits participation in sports and extracurricular activities. One student expressed frustration over the lack of transportation options, stating that many athletes are forced to rely on parents or pay for rides, such as Uber, to attend practices and games. This situation not only affects students' ability to engage in sports but also raises safety concerns about traveling across town alone.

Parents echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that the barriers to transportation hinder their children's opportunities to socialize and compete, potentially impacting their chances for scholarships and future success. Unique Hendricks, a parent of two WAMS students, urged the board to reconsider transportation policies, arguing that improved access could lead to increased student participation in athletics.

In addition to transportation issues, students raised concerns about the school's dress code, which they feel stifles self-expression. Donnie Burton, a senior at Wilby High School, articulated that the strict dress code requirements, such as specific colors and styles, are not only financially burdensome but also limit students' ability to express their individuality and culture. He called for more flexibility in the dress code to better reflect students' identities while maintaining a respectful school environment.

Amari Brantley, a youth engagement coordinator, further emphasized the need for change, citing research that suggests dress codes can disproportionately affect certain groups, particularly women. He urged the board to consider the implications of these policies on students' mental health and overall well-being.
