Brandon Johnson, a student councilor at North High School, introduced Yan Yan Ni, a summa cum laude graduate who will attend Ohio University to study mechanical engineering. Johnson praised Yan for her academic dedication and involvement in extracurricular activities, including sports and music. He emphasized her resourcefulness and adaptability, noting her commitment to taking college credit courses to get ahead.
Following Yan's introduction, she presented a rose to Mr. Dunbrook, a teacher recognized for his engaging teaching style and supportive nature. Yan described Mr. Dunbrook as passionate and patient, highlighting his efforts to create a structured learning environment and his willingness to provide guidance beyond the classroom.
Gabriela Abish, another distinguished student, was introduced next. She is also graduating summa cum laude and will attend Bowling Green State University to pursue agricultural mechanical design. Gabriela has received multiple scholarships and has been actively involved in sports and music, serving as a band manager and participating in the bowling team. She presented her rose to Miss Dawn, an ASL teacher who has made a significant impact on her learning experience in just one year.
The ceremony underscored the importance of recognizing the hard work of both students and teachers, fostering a sense of community and appreciation within the Garfield Heights School District.
