A proposed community-based residential facility (CBRF) in Port Washington is gaining momentum, with the Planning Commission expressing strong support during a recent meeting. The facility, designed to resemble a single-family home, will accommodate eight residents and is strategically located at the northeast intersection of Esauk and Woodridge Lane, an area previously considered for single-family housing.
The design, which features a gray color palette favored by the Design Review Board, aims to blend seamlessly into the residential neighborhood. Jeff Lake from Red Granite Development Company emphasized the importance of matching the facility's character with the surrounding area, noting that this site was chosen due to its residential compatibility and limited availability of open lots in Port Washington.
Parking was a significant topic of discussion, with the facility providing six designated parking spots for staff and visitors. Lake addressed concerns about parking restrictions on Woodridge Lane, explaining that the design includes a circular drive to facilitate easy access for residents and staff, particularly for transportation to jobs and activities.
The Planning Commission's favorable response indicates a positive step forward for the project, which aims to enhance community support for individuals in need of residential care. The next steps will involve finalizing approvals and moving towards construction, as the community anticipates the benefits this facility will bring.
