Bertie County officials are taking steps to improve community coordination following a public suggestion for a centralized county calendar. During a recent work session, resident Laura Orsini highlighted the issue of overlapping events, which has led to conflicts such as the simultaneous scheduling of Riverfest, the Hope Yard Sale, and the Bertie County prom on the same day. Orsini proposed the creation of a comprehensive calendar to help prevent such clashes in the future.

Commissioners acknowledged the importance of better communication among local organizations and agreed that a unified calendar could facilitate smoother planning for community events. The discussion emphasized the need for collaboration between the county and various municipalities to ensure all events are included and accessible to the public.

In addition to the calendar proposal, the meeting also featured the introduction of Joseph Wallace as the new assistant finance director, a position created to enhance the finance department's capabilities.
