Corvallis funds renovation and roof replacement for Provalis building project

In a pivotal meeting on May 13, 2025, the Whiteville City Council addressed significant renovations and funding updates for the Provalis building, highlighting a $280,000 contribution from Corvallis for additional construction work. This funding will support the renovation of the back portion of the building, which was not included in the original project scope.

The council discussed the necessity of replacing the building's roof, revealing unexpected complications. During initial assessments, extensive water damage was discovered due to over 80 penetrations in the existing roof system. As a result, the council approved the removal of the old roof to install a new system, ensuring the building's integrity and longevity.

Additionally, the council noted an increase in miscellaneous revenue, amounting to $62,592, which will bolster the general fund budget. This one-time revenue will help address various professional fees and salaries linked to recent projects, allowing the city to manage its financial liabilities effectively.
