The highlight of the meeting was the recognition of Freedom Middle School's quiz bowl team, who recently showcased their talents at the annual Spring Forward Academic Challenge held at Gallatin High School. Competing against 44 teams from Tennessee and Kentucky, this remarkable group of students, led by social studies teacher Zach Looney, finished seventh overall. Their impressive performance earned them a coveted spot at the prestigious National Academic Quiz Tournaments' championship in Chicago, Illinois.

This achievement is particularly noteworthy as Freedom Middle School joins Brentwood Middle School as the only two teams in Williamson County to qualify for nationals, marking them as one of just six schools in Tennessee to earn this distinction. The board members and attendees erupted in applause, celebrating the students' hard work and dedication.

As the meeting continued, Beth Tigard, vice president of Unified Champion Schools for Special Olympics Tennessee, was invited to the podium for a special presentation, further emphasizing the district's commitment to inclusivity and excellence in education.
