McFarland Middle School celebrates TSA students with state awards and recognition ceremony

The Othello School District held its Regular Board Meeting on May 12, 2025, where several key topics were discussed, including student achievements and staff recognition.

The meeting began with a motion to approve the agenda, which passed unanimously. Superintendent Carlos Gonzales then took the floor to highlight the accomplishments of students from McFarland Middle School, particularly those involved in the Technology Student Association (TSA). Principal Gonzales introduced advisor Devin Lewis, who shared details about the TSA's recent successes at the state level. This year, the TSA team competed in various events, including digital photography and robotics, and achieved notable results, including a third-place finish in the Tech Bowl competition.

Gonzales recognized the hard work of the students, including Ethan Wilhelm, Grayson Sams, Addie Russell, Maddie Camp, and Emiliano Gomez, who represented their school and community with pride. The students received awards and certificates for their achievements, and the principal emphasized the importance of their dedication and teamwork.

In addition to student recognition, the meeting included a surprise acknowledgment for advisor Devin Lewis, who was commended for her significant contributions to the school, including her role in implementing standards-based grading and supporting intervention strategies for students.
