Floyd Central NJROTC Precision Rifle Team excels at Navy Nationals

The New Albany Floyd County School Board celebrated remarkable achievements by the NJROTC Precision Rifle team during their recent meeting on May 12, 2025. The team, under the leadership of Master Guns, has set new national records and demonstrated exceptional performance throughout the season.

Master Guns highlighted the team's undefeated streak in their local league, where they competed against 12 schools. Their success continued as they clinched the elite championship and the area championship, which includes seven states. This impressive record qualified them for the Navy Nationals held in February, where they excelled in the precision category, a more advanced level of competition.

At the Navy Nationals, the team not only secured first place in their category but also set a Navy record. They then advanced to the all-services competition, where they finished in second place, narrowly missing the championship by just two points to a Texas team that has dominated the event for eight consecutive years.

Master Guns expressed pride in his team's accomplishments and optimism for the future, noting that none of the team members are graduating this year, allowing them to return and compete again. The meeting concluded with the team members introducing themselves, showcasing the talent and dedication that led to their outstanding performance.
